Evening with The Veronicas

Evening with The Veronicas

Bhakta Richie, one of our resident brahmacaris, came into the office and told me that I should come meet some colorful youth who were in our temple room. The Veronicas, a popular eletropop band from Brisbane Australia had stopped in on one of their USA tours. Their band appears on MTV and other popular venues. So we were pleasantly surprised when they greeted us with a “Hare Krishna” and “Haribol” The party consisted of the identical twins, Jessica and Lisa, along with Jess’s boyfriend Azaria, and also with them was their friend Chandravali, a very nice young girl who was born in a Hare Krishna community in Australia. Chandravali, daughter of Chandra Latika dasi, travels with the band doing the video documentary. We were again surprised that they were all quite hip to the Hare Krishna ISKCON lingo. Azaria said as we neared the restaurant, “Let take prasadam” and during the meal he mentioned, “This prasadam is the best in world!” Before going in the restaurant I showed them around the temple and they remarked at its beauty. They liked Radharani’s Park and the Samadhi of Tamal Krishna Goswami. I chatted with them during the meal, a little about vegetarianism and other topics, and then we ventured into the gift shop. In the gift shop they were especially attracted to books about Krishna and introductory books about Krishna Consciousness. Lisa bought the KRSNA book, the one with the really nice forward by George Harrison. Chandravali and me chatted about Kurma Prabhu, Australia’s famous vegetarian chef, and she told be how she had known Kurma’s wife since she was small. Azaria bought a big Lakshmi fountain and then they all had to head off to their show. There were all very nice and seemed to have a keen attraction to the Lord. I hope to meet them again on their next tour. Hare Krishna

Your humble servant,

Nityananda Chandra Das
